It also includes language that suggests this is a pretext to start actual serious conversations about secession.

...I'm genuinely concerned about my future in this state comrades.

Edit: i've lived in Texas the majority of my life so I am fully aware that republican idiots talk about about secession ever other day or more and have as long as I've been alive. But as far as I'm aware this hasn't been in their official platform and the fact that this is combined with their statement on Biden tells me this is a measure or two more serious than idiot tough guy talk.

    actual serious conversations about secession

Most American reactionaries have zero clue how much they benefit from the current system. But by all means, fuck around...

On the one hand, Texas secession will definitely harm and endanger the vulnerable people who live there — people of color and queer people (esp trans people) in particular

On the other hand, the collapse of the US is inevitable and Texas secession seems like the thing most likely to kick off its balkanization

I wish we could skip to the part where the US has collapsed without all the suffering that will happen between now and then

We gotta be there to keep our people safe and stop fascism from gaining ground. It would be nice to skip the horror but a lot of people will suffer if we're not there for them.

Im gonna be real with you, when ever the real fascists take over be it next election or if they succeed to remove Biden from office next year, dark days are coming the question now is how will the fascist state handle this? Civil War maybe? A war with another super power? Will this be the end? Will they just use the nukes when they inevitable lose?

The Chapo boys were dead on when they said Biden would be the last president lmao. It’s simultaneously unbelievable and perfectly on character for the American project to be ended by a bunch of whiny pissbabies who can’t accept losing and would rather burn the room down than admit they were wrong about something

They also said that if Texas succeeded from the US they'd instantly be overtaken by Mexican cartels, so here's hoping I get to see something like that happen. Condolences, but that whole state needs to be taken down a peg.

I mean, there's a degree of truth to it. The cartels run their municipalities like little fiefs. A seceded Texas would likely adopt this model, with corporate sponsored police gangs terrorizing locals into compliance.

    This is so dumb.

Everybody wants capitalism and bourgeois "democracy" to end, even the chuds are done with it, the only people that want it are the haphazard centrists and neolibs but they won't put up a fight to defend their stupid system - so really, they want it to end to and just move on to direct rule by Bezos or whatever capitalist they like. All they'll do is vote or just complain on twitter anyway if pressed - imagine a dorky neolib grab a gun to defend democracy or hold up in a tent for 10 months and risk dieing of dysentery without seeing combat, it's a fucking joke. Chuds have the death drive pushing them to make stupid moves and just want soo badly to die with some sense of honour in a civil war, it's like a chickenhawk thing where chuds are begging their buddies to hold them back and the other side is just some dofus driving away in a mercedes.

It'd be nice if their self-destruction could work it's way out as social isolation and a drug habit instead of oppression or just straight murder of LGBTQ+ people and black people.

Whatever. I don't care. I barely have the mental energy to do much except go to work.

Also Texans have been threatening to succeed since they did it the once and sent a whole bunch of troops to die in human wave attacks in Virginia and saw no local battles. They will never do it. Texas is the breadwinner of the south, even if the lines where the same as they where in 1861, Texas wouldn't want to pay taxes for roads in Georgia.

There is more to worry about Texas Rangers just executing Trans kids in the streets than there is succession

think about it, the government has genocided literally 1,000,000 (domestically) of covid, likely closer to like 2mil and theres been almost 0 reaction from anyone with any amount of influence or power or anything, besides polite “recommendations” (that of course mean nothing)

you probably wouldnt have guessed that this could happen like 4 years ago, right

Yes for like one hundred years, also do you think is going to fight the ensuing civil war. You think Joe is going to roll over and say, ah shucks, I'll guess I'll let this state that has all these energy companies, our space mission control, and probably at least a few dozen nukes along the Houston Ship channel become it's own nation. No, they are gonna bitch about it, how Texas was much better as a sovereign slave state and ignoring that the republic of Texas was so thoroughly run into the ground, that it was on it's third attempt at a currency by the time and was only accepted in for Slavers to have another slave state.

They are gonna do what every politician does, complain about everything and do the most heinous shit and enjoy the unfettered access to the bounty that empire grants them. They will continue to chip away at what is legally a human until we are back at the original definition of who could vote, a rich white landowner, who everyone in the power pretty much is.

:biden-troll: is so weak that if secession happened tomorrow, nothing would happen. In fact if that seceded state started demanding handouts from the federal government it left behind, it would probably get those too. :agony-yehaw:
