Yeah, but if you're going to experiment, you have to have a hypothesis and then afterwards investigate if it worked. Too many "experimental" art projects do none of that. It's just throwing shit against the wall. Not even to see what sticks - that would be a hypothesis.
An experimental film doesn't have a hypothesis. Inland Empire isn't trying to prove anything.
