I haven't done as much research about martial law and shit as I would have liked to have done so I do actually wonder if this is a general ghoulish wartime thing or a particularly ghoulish thing by Ukraine, most of my googling about looting just brings up soldiers looting homes and stores, not civilians stealing/looting for basic survival.
Also I'd like to know if it is an actually common thing, if this is actually accepted or if its a case where the enemies of the west have been punished and critizised for it but when our friends do it, its normal suddenly. It might seem naive but I'd like to leave the door open at least that I'm not just witnessing widespread approval and acceptance of random bouts of fascist violence against civilian populations by everyone around me.
I was mistaken about how unusual the act of banning all men 18-60 from leaving the country seemed to me, so I'm open to being mistaken and not knowledgable about other wartime shit.

Oh nice, so it is in fact particularly fucked up but everyone pretends its not just to have their saint intact.
What comes to mind for me is, the Japanese interment camps for Americans and for Canadians are usually condemned as horrible mistakes that never should have been wrought... yet I guess if it's wartime you gotta do what you gotta do according to many, and shockingly few people recognize how literally the government just stole all those peoples stuff and just never gave it back.
Even then its not really the same thing, thats still like a relatively organized thing by the government, not just seemingly random acts of brutality by the national guard and civilians on the street.
And also of course its collective punishment before any actual wrongdoing has been committed, though Im sure that liberals would love to hear that Ukraine is organizing camps for their Russian ethnic minority.
