Look, I understand that people are upset, but she's crossing her arms in the picture. We haven't had a chance to oggle her cans. She could have F cups under there.

Why is it always the leaders remembered as heroes who are in games? They should add some of the bad leaders as well, Nicholas II, the most inbred of the Habsburgs, Gorbachev, Liz Truss, all the kings with names like "Hunger" and "the Mad".

I am immensely unentertained by the Civ franchise and its model of taking a selection of cities and people and tossing them haphazardly on a random-seeded map.

I like Tuabman and I like diversity in my games but I hate the implication that the USA is sufficiently not fascist and white supremacist to have her as a leader.

in the civilization universe, all civilizations are a blank slate that start during the early agrarian era. They don't yet pick an ideology or colonize others or do anything at that point. Also, in civ 7 she can be the leader of any civilization, leaders aren't bound to specific civs

That's how I justify it to myself at least, it falls apart upon any introspection but that's how it goes with a silly 4x game with hammers and beakers

I agree it should have some type of penalties, but it’s hard to implement fascism if you aren’t willing to include dirty historical realities like genocide and ethnic cleansing and colonialism.

I understand why Civ doesn’t want to allow naziboos to roleplay as a genocidal maniac in their game

Then we will lose communism as a playable option. The moment Firaxis removes fascism the “both sides” whining will be overwhelming

plus civ 7 is purposefully adding a bunch of leaders that weren't officially national leaders, people like Da Vinci or Benjamin Franklin. It makes added sense since you play as 3 different civilizations throughout the game and your civilization changes but your leader stays the same.

So does each civilization have multiple leaders, since Harriet Tubman and Benjamin Franklin are both American?

          yes pretty sure most do.

There's ~10 civilizations for each era, ~30 total. I think there will be like 45+ leaders

luckily, Civ 7 is kinda doing the Humankind thing and separating the leaders from the civs to some extent

meaning, Harriet Tubman doesn't have to lead the yankoid shitheap afaik

I know we're getting into more Paradox than Civ here, but I'd like to see it as, if John Brown or Nat Turner succeed, then she's the leader of the new America.

Literally everything Gamergate dipshits said about "SJWs" was projection:

    • They're ridiculously sensitive and easy to offend.
    • They want to force the entire industry to conform to their politics.
    • They're single-minded obsessives who go nuclear the moment a game fails a single one of their myriad purity tests.
    • A large portion of them are tourist outsiders invading the hobby who see it as nothing but a tool to push their political agenda.

        I've played 2, 3, 5 and 6. Never played Civ 1 or Civ 4.

4 would be great with all the mods and shit, but the early 3d graphics shit is ugly and i dont say this lightly.

the awkward move from beautiful 2d to disgusting 3d was a growth period i dont want to revisit.

Yeah that’s why the graphics to 6 feel like such a step in the wrong direction to me. You have this elegant and beautiful design with 5 and then make 6 look like a mobile game?

4 is good. Probably my favorite in the series. Refined almost all of the jank out of the early series, hadn't yet introduced the all-new jank that started in 5.

It’s even a joke I have with myself. One second this is my internal monologue:

“Oh come on, Zinn. You should feel lucky material conditions happened the way they did where you found the left before fascism found you! You’re not immune to propaganda, you got lucky it’s not your big brain!”

      Reads a comment section

“On second thought, maybe it is your big brain that allows you to handle the truth.”
