cool. yeah Time might be close, but i don't think Time has nearly the intellectual clout or popularity that Der Spiegel has.
yeah flawed comparison i was thinking politico but i know even less about them. its a sucessful weekly magazine about mostly national and international politics, that is not as hard right as the rest of the big media landscape. (what that means in todays germany is another discussion entirely)
okay sure. though to be honest i've never seen anyone read or subscribe to Politico.
not that your life would be enriched by knowing about american periodicals, but i thought this Onion piece was a pretty scathing indictment of Time -- it might as well be a magazine for children (https://www.theonion.com/time-announces-new-version-of-magazine-aimed-at-adults-1819594952).
ayyyy, yeah the fact that they do this person of the year thing makes them seem more like the academy awards than a magazine with words. i was comparing more the place they hold in terms of being known and selling some papers supposedly.

more like time magazine or the atlantic not really familiar with us print media tbh. spiegel is the biggest, formerly misunderstood as social democrat, politics magazine in germany.
you probably meant Bild, which is similar to the brit tabloids on the surface.
