Just to remind comrades agitating and mobilizing over the next few days, this ruling is class warfare.
The rich were always able to get safe abortions before Roe, and they will continue to be able to get them by traveling to safe states or different countries. This ruling specifically targets the most vulnerable.
My great aunt owned a travel agency in the South in the 1960's that booked abortions for the rich. I fully expect capitalism to exploit women to the fullest extent possible now that Roe is overturned. There will be businesses started today because of this decision.
We do have effective chemical abortifacients that can be made by anyone with an undergrad in chemistry nowadays; however, that still puts women who use them in the crosshairs of prosecutors in red states who will soon be prosecuting them with old school infanticide laws.
Fully Manual Neofeudal Heterosexual Biofascist Capitalism
It's here, folks. And it's going to be a long, hard road from FMHBC to FALGSC.
We do have effective chemical abortifacients that can be made by anyone with an undergrad in chemistry nowadays;
breaking bad reboot time
that can be made by anyone with an undergrad in chemistry
which ones? I should have studied chemistry

They gotta have that endless supply of cheap, expendable labor and cannon fodder.
US soldiers are increasingly coming from middle class backgrounds because of the need for so many specialists.
Even that form of social mobility has been curtailed in the past 10-20 years. Things are turning to shit faster and faster now.
Poor people get stuck in jobs that suck when they have kids. I can skip a few meals as an adult with control of myself, maybe my (hypothetical)spouse can to, but a kid needs to be fed constantly so they grow up healthy. Similar with shelter. If rent is too high, maybe I crash at friends' places, get a bunch of roommates, or do what I can with public places and shelters. You get a kid and that all becomes much harder. So you gotta suck it up and do what the boss says. You also need a job for insurance now, and kids get sick more and worse than adults do. Unionizing now carries an extra risk because you cantjust up and move if you get blacklisted in the town. Kids make doing basically anything harder because you are responsible for a human life that can do nothing on it's own for many years, and needs a ton of support, material and emotional, even when it's mostly grown. I don't know if I want kids, but I am putting myself in a strong position financially and career-wisr before I even consider it. This is a last ditch effort to force everyone back to work in the wake of quitting and unionization.
I know this ruling has been expected, but this feels like big moment. This is an extremely unpopular governmental body making a unilateral decision to rescind the rights of millions of Americans based on theology. This should wake a lot of people up.
I don't want to bring you down but I could argue that we're pretty much mislead on how broadly popular RVW is for reasons I could go into.
Are people in California going to take to the streets and block California traffic for the sake of South Carolinians?
Democrats are going to try to settle into the new equilibrium as quick as possible because the fight tends to attract disproportionately more rightoid wingnuts.
I'll stop here because it's too :doomjak:
I went out and protested the day that the leak happened then the weekend after. Honestly it made me feel more doomer tbh. Just felt.... useless, not a ton of showing. Nothing will be done until capital is legitimately threatened and people aren't willing to lose their lives over this yet. I guess we'll see how this progresses tonight .
That all being said, I think its worth it to go out and at least show for a bit. If the crowd is huge, stay, if it feels like a circlejerk and useless, make your decision then
Oh nothing is going to get done legislatively in this country until there is a general strike. I think I'm mostly speaking in terms of heightening the contradictions for the broader, less politically engaged populous.
And we're not getting a general strike until we have mass unionization, first.
this is the question. Do contradictions heighten or is all captured already? I'm predicting the bleak equilibrium or bleakulibrium is upon on us because my heart and balls feel it . :07:
Curious about this too. I think this all hinges on radlibs being radicalized and realizing the democrats can't do anything.
If you zoom out, I suppose you can kinda see Occupy Wallstreet --> BLM --> Bernie --> BLM 2.0 --> whatever is next. Gotta remember shit changes pretty slowly. I think the contradictions are definitely heightening in that sense.
Is it all captured already? Also true.
Really puts the “they’ve made their choices” line that’s been so popular with libs into focus
Even MSNBC lib Keith Olbermann called to dissolve the Supreme Court yesterday.
Holy shit, I just realized that tweet wasn't even about this ruling, this just made him double down again today. Even when I was a lib I've always disliked Olbermann but if even HE has been pushed to this point that says something. I'm not optimistic enough to think it will lead to anywhere without mass illegal organizing and action people aren't quite ready for yet...but if "Abolish the Court" becomes a mainstream talking point that's not insignificant.
DoD put Supreme Court decisions right up there in terms of risk of political violence alongside right wing extremism
So, I'm not Amerikan, but it isn't a stretch to say that without the Dems this wouldn't have been possible right? Obama gave up one supreme court nomination, and RBG wanted to resign under Clinton or whatever and then fucking died when Trump was in office instead, right?
Yes. Also they've had literal decades to codify abortion rights into federal law, including the last two years with Biden + dem house + dem senate, and including the years under Obama when the dems had a fillibuster-proof supermajority in the senate as well as control of the house
Nothing less than a reproductive rights amendment would secure abortion rights as the US Senate will only become increasingly undemocratic in the future.
Since the undemocratic Senate votes on SCOTUS and federal judges any form of legislative rights for abortion can be taken away now. There is no codifying abortion nationally after Roe is overturned. SCOTUS can just make a new ruling making any codified abortion rights unconstitutional. Only a constitutional amendment will stop this SCOTUS.
The constitution allows Congress to strip any federal court of jurisdiction over a law. They just haven't used this because they love institutions. They need to use this.
RBG wanted to resign under Clinton or whatever and then fucking died when Trump was in office instead, right?
Not that it adds anything concrete here but I think it's worth pointing out that she died in the middle of the pandemic when people in the US were actually still masking and social distancing. Specifically, she died a few weeks after she officiated a maskless wedding for some connected lanyard dweebs. Do we know for sure that she died of covid because she was a stupid selfish idiot who went to wedding brunch? Not for sure. But I believe it.
Yup! It's forgotten today but that's exactly what happened. Everyone was mask, mask, mask - well except for elites obviously. Then she up and died for no particular reason after going maskless and attending a superspreader event. It'll be an unsolvable mystery, forever, I guess.
I remember that very well when it happened, because people were like hey maybe that's not a good idea. The hubris on these libs is insane and will always be the downfall of them
She also had like 17 layers of cancer. The woman should have resigned in 1892
Correct, RBG in particular could have prevented this from happening by just retiring during the Obama admin instead of being a selfish ghoul.
With the margin on the court, it also would have depended on the Dems fighting back against McConnell blocking them on the other seat, rather than using it to rally their base for 2016
It needed to be both RBG retiring and Obama putting whoever the fuck in since the senate refused to do their jobs. Instead he wrung his hands and say "well too bad can't do anything here"
A federal law would be meaningless today. They'd just say it was unconstitutional.
you're completely correct. yesterday, even my extremely :LIB: mother was complaining about that
Obama gave up one but asked rbg twice to retire. So fuck her
By not fighting back in any way when McConnell refused to hold a vote on the seat that became vacant when Scalia ate shit
Well for one thing, there were a significant number of legal experts at the time who argued that the Senate refusing to hold a vote was essentially tantamount to assenting to whoever the President picked. So Obama could have used that, either by just appointing someone or by using the threat of it to get them to at least hold a vote
Yup. He shouldn't have even held their feet there, he should have just shrugged and put someone in saying they wouldn't do their job. They would have voted down every possible option anyway so he should have just taken the opportunity
To be fair, because the senate was held by republicans at that point, Obama isn't directly at fault for not getting that nomination. He's only at fault in that he sucked enough to lose the senate.
Still, there was no precedent for disallowing a sitting president from appointing a Supreme Court Justice. Refusing to hold the hearing was a clear loophole/exploitation which the Dems should have combated on every front possible if they were actually concerned with exercising their electoral mandate(s)
Their argument was largely "he already appointed 2!" and then Trump gets to chuck 3 in there within a single 4 year term with McConnell still in the senate. And I'm not complaining about the hypocrisy, I'm complaining about how fucking useless the dems are.
That particular event was when I realized that bourgeoisie democracy was an absolute farce.
They were also fucking useless not ensuring the right to abortion via legislation in Obamas first term. Obama didn't want to "divide" people. Dems sat on their hands thinking the Republicans wouldn't do what they kept saying they wanted to do.
No he could have just placed someone in since they literally refused to even hold a hearing on a nominee. Could have argued that since they wouldn't hold a hearing they implicitly accept his nomination or something. It was unprecedented at the time though
5 freaks that will be in power as long as they want voted against the will of the majority of the people and stripped the rights away from millions. Fuck this country
:amerikkka:
5 freaks that aren’t in anyway shape or form accountable to the people or democratically elected
Freest most democratic country on the planet
5 Freaks in an institution that gave itself the power to unilaterally re-write laws.
Appointed by presidents elected by minorities and confirmed by senate seats representing a minority
5 freaks that will be in power as long as they want
Not necessarily :gui-better:
I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood. I had, as I now think, vainly flattered myself that without very much blood shed it might be done.
:doubt:
Calling it now, pussy hats for a month and then back to brunch.
r/news redditors are already blaming this on Bernie bros who didn't vote for Hillary :hillary-contempt:
Yeah, we all know that they care more about protecting the lifestyle being petit‐bourg in Amerikkka affords them more than they care about abortion rights or LGBTQ liberation. I hate to be all doomer but the US is going to have to get much worse before it gets any better.
We’ll probably see picketing outside of Jill Stein or Bernie Sanders’s houses, though
If I hear anyone irl blaming Bernie or the bros I will literally punch them in the face.
If Jill Stein's votes had been votes for Hillary instead, she'd have beaten Trump and he would be remembered today, if at all, as a laughingstock. Instead the world had to take him seriously and Hillary became the laughingstock.
Instead the world had to take him seriously
:hillgasm: Pied piper lmfao
lol hillary get :rekt:
and, after it all, trump emerged a laughingstock
We're already kinda in the cool zone, just waiting to see how cool it gets
god it would be so extremely heartwarming to see a sc judge or 5 get wasted
The time of the nine has begun
Get out of the way or you will suffer as one
Biden would let a gang of 20 come up with a list that kept the balance exactly as it is now. We don't let the terrorists win :amerikkka-clap:
We could have stopped this ruling in it's tracks. It was leaked for a reason. Americans failed the court leaker.
Shove me back in the closet all you want. I will never stop shoving shit up my ass. My prostate is here to stay.
Sodomy includes oral sex by some definitions, by the way. Literally six old men outlawing cunnilingus and blowjobs.
By some definitions, sodomy is any sex that isn't procreative. So using birth control or pulling out too
Straights definitely don't have oral or anal sex. I'm sure cishets will be prosecuted.
Christofascists making jerking off illegal via Supreme Court decisions
sorry libs are still at brunch. idk when they are gonna come back.
Edit: a lib called me "inflammatory" today when I went off about the ruling :agony-shivering:
"My dad left for brunch 2 years ago. I'm sure he'll be back for me, his large adult son, any day now!"
Lots of peoples from Cali move to Texas because of the rent/housing price going out of control, well it’s going to be a clusterfuck with this ruling
ANTIFA MEMORANDUM #1312 BLACK BLOC DRESS CODE ADDENDUM 6/24/2022 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, ALL BLACK BLOC PROTESTERS ARE REQUIRED TO OPEN CARRY BASEBALL BATS OR EQUIVALENT BLUNT OBJECTS ANTIFA HQ RECOMMENDS THE INCORPORATION OF TRADITIONAL AMERICAN BASEBALL SONGS INTO THE CHANT ROTATION AT FUTURE PROTESTS. EXAMPLES INCLUDE 'TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME', 'HEY BATTER BATTER', AND 'I DONT DANCE' FROM DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2. FEEDBACK IS REQUESTED ON WHETHER THE EFFECT IS MENACING AS INTENDED OR MERELY SILLY
In a proper country the justices who made this decision would be hanging above the steps of the Supreme Court by nightfall
In a proper country they wouldn't have been given the chance
and the office probably wouldn't exist anyway
Mindbreakingly insane that packing the court isn’t the compromise option, fuck all these people
If only the Democrats were in control of the House, Senate and Presidency for the past two years, they could have increased the number of justices to 15 and appointed six new leftists, including women, African-Americans, immigrants and trans. But nah, that could never happen.
The Supreme Court will strip the federal government down to being a military and a postal service, and that's about it. This seems to be an ideological commitment that 5-6 of the justices have - that the federal government should only do the things that are explicitly outlined in the dogshit constitution. No protection of civil liberties, environmental protection, social welfare, nothing. Honestly trying to get universal healthcare passed is pointless now as SCOTUS will definitely overturn it.
This is what they want and they are signalling that they'll flip anything that isn't spelled out in black & white in the constitution. I would say this puts us on a speed run to balkanization and maybe it does, but the bourgeoisie need this whole thing to stick together since US imperialism is very profitable for them, so I do think they'll force states to stick together with the barrel of a gun.
the bourgeoisie need this whole thing to stick together since US imperialism is very profitable for the
Honestly, looking at the Overnight Reverse Repurchase Agreements over the last 16 months ($2.26 trillion of new money), I think they're ripping the copper out of the walls on their way out.
The Supreme Court will strip the federal government down to being a military and a postal service
With the way things are looking I'm starting to even doubt the part about the postal service
anything that isn’t spelled out in black & white in the constitution.
They don't care about the constitution. Their ruling on concealed carry was pure ideology. They're just doing whatever they want to do, there are no principles or legal theory underpinning their decisions.
Overthrowing Roe isn't just an affront to constitutional legal jurisprudence, it flies in the face of stare decisis, the idea of agreeing with precedent that the entirety of Common Law is based on. They've thrown out even the merest pretense of legal norms and theories. They're really just making shit up because no one can stop them.
thomas has no support for this. (or limited: no way kav, roberts or gorsuch would support, and certainly not the liberals).
Feels like we're going to wake up from the hazy nightmare build up by being plunged into the shit of massive social upheaval within the next few years.
Yeah...and the Pillory wasn't just sitting in the stocks and a couple of tomatoes if they didn't like you. People were fucking murdered on the pillory, you were entirely at the mercy of the mob.
