    I also made a guy from Nigeria angry on Quora when I mentioned the double standards wrt Ukraine vs. Palestine/Yemen/Syria, etc. How ironic. Simping for 2 of the countries that hate you the most.

      Seriously? Israelis chanting a fascist slogan popularized by a movement that contributed directly and significantly to the Holocaust is just too on the nose. I'm taking the rest of the day off.

            Israeli is not synonymous with Jewish, nor is Zionism. That's Israeli propaganda so the fascists can shut down criticism by claiming antisemitism. It's shameless and disgusting.

              Actually by buying into the Zionist claim that "Israeli" is synonymous with Jewish you essentially reproduce the antisemitic claim that Jews are somehow foreign in their respective countries and belong somewhere else, ie. that a French Jew can't be just as French as their gentile neighbors and that the belong in some Jew-country.

                And buying in to that idea of Jewish otherness furthers the goal of right wing fascist Israeli's of making the rest of the world so unsafe for Jews that they have no choice but to move to Palestine. This can be seen in Israel's easy cooperation with the Trump campaign and it's many anti-Semitic actors, as well as Israeli's collaboration with the American Religious Right, which is ruthlessly anti-Semitic but requires all Jews to return to Jerusalem in order to set off their apocalyptic fantasy of the end of the world.

            Are Jewish-Americans living in California “Israelis”? Even if they have never visited Israel or have any connection to it whatsoever?

            Israeli is synonymous with settler-citizen of the illegitimate Zionist entity, not a religious or ethnic group.

            Otherwise saying “isntrael” would be a bigoted thing to say, and it isn’t. Neither is attacking Israelis as a group, as in, citizens of Israel

              Ehh...kind of depends on the mode of "attack". Pretty xenophobic when done in many cases. The nation of Israel fucking sucks. Lots of working-class Israelis are good folks deserving of solidarity; especially those who are themselves engaging in anti-colonialist struggle against "their" apartheid state.

                  I'm not sure this is what working-class solidarity looks like. I agree that we should absolutely work to destroy these settler-colonialist states (and, in fact, state and capital in general). But I think I'll refrain from screaming at homeless mothers and the like because they're not able and willing to take the time off from trying to survive the systems of wage slavery and policing to go torch the nearest government building or whatever. I'd rather take a little more responsibility and organize to give people that opportunity than to try to heap blame onto them for its lack. As you will though, I guess.
