On this day in 1968, the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, the New People's Army, was founded. The CPP-NPA waged one of the longest communist insurgencies in the world and is deemed a terrorist org by the US and EU.
In December 1968, Filipino revolutionary Jose Maria Sison met Bernabé Buscayno, who had commanded an armed group during a communist-led uprising in the 1950s known as the Huk Rebellion. Together with Buscayno, who still commanded his armed group, Sison set up the NPA on March 29th, 1969, a few months after establishing the CPP.
Buscayno became the NPA's first commander, bringing his fighters into the newly established militant wing. The NPA adopted the Maoist strategy of the protracted people's war, and, according to liberal journalist Seth Mydans, has waged the "world's longest-running communist insurgency".
In 2017, the Office of the President of the Philippines designated both the NPA and the CPP as terrorist groups. The United States and the European Union have designated the CPP-NPA as "foreign terrorist organizations" in 2002 and 2005, respectively.
Jose Maria Sison wrote extensively about his experiences with revolutionary struggle, authoring texts such as "Foundation for Resuming the Philippine Revolution" (1968 - 1972) and "Continuing the Struggle for National & Social Liberation" (1986 - 1991).

The NPA also facilitated the first gay marriage in the Phillipines while fighting off the US and PRC backed Regime. Truly an inspirational organization
SorosFootSoldier attempts quitting smoking again because he keeps running out of money for shit he actually needs, i.e. food. Seriously, giving it another shot. If I have to eat buttered noodles again for my only meal for 4 days straight I'll scream and puke. I'll update when I get to 24 hours, first hurdle is not buying a pack tomorrow at the store, I've gone almost a month before quitting let's see if I can do it again.
I am not even remotely familiar with this kind of addiction, but could you try buying up food and other essentials first to remove the potential for purchasing cigarettes?
That's my plan, I'm shopping tomorrow and I'm going to spend most of my money.

Thank you. I think the thing that stung the most was that I chose to buy smokes over getting Mr. Softie food and I had to ask my dad to use some of his cat food. I felt like a bad parent. Shit's ridiculous, I should know better by now.
If I could get them for free somehow I'd do the patch and step down gradually over time from it. The best I can do rn is to quit cold turkey.

Yelling at my partner that socialism is by definition democratic, so people calling themselves democratic socialists are either stupidly appealing to people that hate them already or compromising on foundational cores of socialism on capital's behalf, they are asking if we can watch father brown, not on my watch there is theory to discuss
DemSoc doesn't mean you don't think socialism is democratic, but that you think it can be attained through voting socialism in.
They're still wrong, but for a more subtle reason.
